Westridge Reclad & Fire Alarm Replacement
Remove and replace exterior brick, and replace fire alarm system at Westridge Elementary School.

Project Updates
July 2026 Status Summary:
- East Elevation – Brick coursing, exterior insulation, and seismic ties up to approx. 48” above classroom finish floor. Storefront flashing completed
- North Elevation – CMU base course and two rows of brick completed. Exterior insulation and seismic ties up approximately 48” above classroom finish floor
- West Elevation – 100% of the brick veneer has been removed. The mold has been fully abated from the gypsum board. Dry rot framing removed and replaced with new lumber. In areas where the brick has been demolished, new plywood sheathing, weather-resistant barrier (WRB), and insulation have been installed. Sidewalk demolition has been completed up to Grid A/6
- South Elevation – 100% of the brick has been removed. New blocking, clips, and misc. framing is being completed
- Covered Play Area: CMU walls have started up to an elevation of approx. 4’ above the asphalt
- South Gym Elevation – Repointing of the existing brick has started
- Fire Alarm – 100% of the existing devices have been removed, 90% of the new devices and wiring have been installed

June 2026 Status Summary:
- East Elevation: The existing brick veneer, building paper, exterior sheathing, and wall‑cavity batt insulation has been removed
- North Elevation: Approximately 50% of the existing brick veneer, building paper, exterior sheathing, and wall‑cavity batt insulation have been removed
- The existing classroom storefront windows and doors have been removed, and plywood security infill panels have been installed
- Site demolition around the building has begun, with below‑grade waterproofing scheduled to start in early July
- Fire Alarm Upgrades: All existing fire‑alarm devices have been removed. New wiring from the central fire‑alarm panel is underway, and approximately 25% of the new devices have been installed
- All four trees identified in the arborist reports have been removed
May 2026 Status Summary:
- A tree protection plan is under final review by the city
- Main construction is scheduled to start on Monday, June 15

- Permit has been approved and issued
April 2026 Status Summary:
- 2KG Contractors has a fully executed contract and has started the submittal review process with various products
- The City is requiring a tree protection plan for the building permit. A tree protection plan is underway and due from the arborist on May 1
- Main construction is scheduled to start on Monday, June 15

- Soderstrom Architects has submitted plans to the City for a permit
March 2026 Status Summary:
- Five bids were received on March 19
- 2KG Contractors was the lowest, responsive bidder
- A Notice of Intent to Award was sent out on March 23
- Contract is under review

February 2026 Status Summary:
- The Invitation to Bid was released on February 18
- A mandatory pre-bid site walk was held on February 25
- Bids are due on March 19
- Project is scheduled for the summer of 2026

January 2026 Status Summary:
- Soderstrom Architects has reviewed the previous drawings and specifications
- 100% Design Development drawings were provided on January 16, 2026
- T.M. Rippey Consulting Engineers has been contracted to do structural engineering
- Landis Consulting has been contracted for fire alarm design
- Project is scheduled for the summer of 2026

December 2025 Status Summary:
- Soderstrom Architects has reviewed the previous drawings and specifications
- 100% SD drawings were provided on December 24, 2025
- Project is scheduled for the summer of 2026
Project Manager’s Notes:
- The first sitewalk was on December 11, 2025
- Second site walk is scheduled for January 15, 2026
November 2025 Status Summary:
- The District has executed a contract with the original design firm to update the construction documents and incorporate additional scope
- A kickoff meeting is scheduled to review the detailed scope of work, establish schedule milestones, and confirm budget parameters
- Incorporate additional work identified by the District since the original 2019 design
- Ensure compliance with the current building codes and standards
- Address any changes in site conditions or District requirements
- Updated construction documents are targeted for completion by January 2026, followed immediately by submission for building permit approval.
