Science Labs Project Updates
March 2025
LOHS Status Summary:
- Renovation Construction Phase 2 start date is June 16, 2025
- Construction Phase 2 will include a new AHU(air handling unit), the remaining classrooms, and common areas. The AHU has been ordered with an expected delivery in July 2025
- The contractor will perform some of the cabinet work over spring break
- Project Manager’s Notes:
- The contractor is working on Phase 1 punch list items and submittals for Phase 2
- New exhaust fans have been installed on the roof
LHS Status Summary:
- Phase 1 construction complete
- Project Manager’s Notes:
- The contractor is working on the final punch list items
- Air balancing is being adjusted during spring break
- Overhead electrical outlet connections are completed in two classroom lab areas
- New exhaust fans have been installed on the roof
- New AHU-11 has been installed and is operational
LHS Phase 2 Status Summary:
- Construction Phase 2 start date will be June 16, 2025
- First Cascade is providing submittals for approval to place advance orders
- First Cascade will be working during spring break on plumbing pipe scoping and jetting
- Project Manager’s Notes:
- OAC meetings are scheduled every two weeks, on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m.
February 2025
LOHS Status Summary:

September 2024
LOHS Status Summary:
- Construction Phase 1 start date was June 17, 2024, and included renovation of 4 science classrooms and the common areas
- MEP rough-in and new terminal units are completed
- Ceilings are re-installed
- Wood ceiling at elevator lobby nearing completion. LO logo is installed with a backlight
- New flooring is installed in four classrooms and the main corridor
- New base cabinets with new countertops, sinks, and faucets installed
- Construction Phase 2 will be the summer of 2025 and will consist of a new AHU (air handling unit) and the remaining classroom renovations
LHS Status Summary:
- Construction Phase 1 start date was June 17, 2024, and consisted of renovation to 4 Science classrooms, restrooms, and staff prep areas
- MEP rough-in and new AHU (air handling unit) have been installed
- Ceilings are re-installed with new light fixtures
- Entry stairs to the Science Department have wood paneling on the walls and new wood slat ceilings
- Restroom areas have been redesigned with new fixtures, toilet accessories, and tile floors and walls
- New flooring is installed in four classrooms and staff prep areas
- New base and upper cabinets with new countertops, sinks, and faucets are installed
- A Life Skills area has been created near the counseling area; this area consists of a kitchen, washer & dryer, and ADA restroom
- Construction Phase 2 will take place during the summer of 2025 and will consist of renovation of the four remaining science classrooms

- Meetings with LOSD administration, LHS science teachers, Bond Department, and Arcadis Architects are ongoing. More meetings are being scheduled to define design direction and scope
- A two-part phasing plan is being discussed and reviewed. Phase 1: remodel and upgrades to existing classrooms

- The renovation projects at both high schools are planned to bid to GCs in the early spring of 2024; construction scheduled for summer of 2024
